Draft, pending trustee approval

Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy

To protect any beneficiary, trainee or visitor under the age of 18 who takes part in the Trust's programmes, events or media activities.

Key provisions

  • Programmes open to participants under 18, such as school and college level aerospace awareness sessions, require parent or guardian consent before enrolment
  • Volunteers and trainers with direct, unsupervised contact with minors are screened before placement, to the extent practical for the Trust's current scale
  • A minor's photograph, video or identifying detail is never published without specific, documented parent or guardian consent, separate from general programme consent
  • Any disclosure or suspicion of harm to a minor is reported immediately to the Program Manager and, where legally required, to the appropriate authority, without waiting for internal review to conclude
  • Beneficiary records for minors are restricted from public access regardless of general transparency commitments elsewhere on this site

Escalation

A child safety concern is escalated immediately to the Program Manager and the Managing Trustee; this is the one policy area where escalation should never wait for the standard grievance queue.
